Shipping, Returns, Refunds & Legal Policies

Service Expectations, Shipping, Returns, Refunds & Legal Information

Last updated: August 2026

This page explains important policies relating to purchases, shipping, custom projects, digital products, physical products, returns, replacements, refinishing, restoration services, and other services provided by Wood Work Therapy LLC.

By placing an order, purchasing a digital product, commissioning custom work, or otherwise using our paid services, you agree to the policies applicable to that product or service, subject to any rights that cannot legally be waived.

Shipping & Delivery

Standard Shippable Orders

Most products that can be shipped through normal parcel services are available for shipping within the United States.

Orders with a qualifying merchandise subtotal of more than $75 are eligible for free standard shipping where offered by our checkout system. Orders below the qualifying threshold are subject to the shipping charges shown during checkout.

Shipping charges, available carriers, service levels, and estimated delivery times may vary according to package size, weight, destination, product type, and carrier availability.

Expedited services, special handling, Alaska, Hawaii, territories, oversized products, or other exceptional destinations may require additional shipping charges.

Large, Oversized & Freight-Type Projects

Large furniture, oversized signs, enclosures, custom builds, and other products that cannot reasonably be shipped as standard parcel packages may require special delivery, freight service, or another individually arranged delivery method.

Availability and cost will be determined on a case-by-case basis before the project is accepted or shipped.

An adult age 18 or older may be required to be present to receive and sign for large or high-value deliveries.

Shipping Estimates

Any delivery estimate is an estimate rather than a guarantee unless Wood Work Therapy expressly states otherwise in writing.

Carrier delays, severe weather, natural disasters, transportation interruptions, holidays, government restrictions, and other events outside our reasonable control may affect delivery.

Order Fulfillment Delays

We make reasonable efforts to ship merchandise within the time represented at the time of sale.

If we cannot ship merchandise within the promised period, or within the period otherwise required by applicable law, we may contact the customer for approval of a revised shipment date or cancel and refund the affected unshipped merchandise as required by law.

Nothing in our no-refund policy eliminates a refund or cancellation right that applies because merchandise cannot legally be shipped within the required period.

Shipping Damage Claims

Visible shipping damage must be reported within 24 hours after delivery, or by the next non-holiday business day, Monday through Friday, when the 24-hour period falls on a weekend or holiday.

This reporting period applies to Wood Work Therapy’s voluntary shipping-damage assistance and carrier-claim process.

A shipping-damage claim should include clear photographs of all applicable areas, including:

  • The exterior shipping box, mailer, crate, or other package
  • Crushing, tearing, punctures, dents, openings, or other exterior package damage
  • Water, moisture, staining, or other liquid damage to the shipping package
  • Internal packaging, padding, inserts, wrapping, and protective materials
  • The product itself
  • Close-up photographs of the specific product damage
  • The shipping label when requested

Do not discard the shipping box, packaging materials, inserts, padding, or damaged product until the claim has been reviewed.

The carrier may require the original package or damaged merchandise for inspection.

Damage reported after the stated reporting period may not qualify for Wood Work Therapy’s voluntary replacement, repair, refinishing, or shipping-damage assistance. However, this reporting requirement does not eliminate legal rights that cannot be waived, including rights involving latent defects or damage that could not reasonably have been discovered during the reporting period.

Returns, Refunds, Replacements & Remedies

Because many Wood Work Therapy products are digital, made-to-order, fabricated for a specific purpose, handcrafted, or customized, all sales are generally final except for the specific remedies described below or where applicable law requires otherwise.

Digital Products, Software & Downloadable Files

Sales of software, digital templates, design files, laser files, 3D-printing files, downloadable documents, and other electronically delivered products are final and non-refundable.

Digital products are provided as-is to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Unless expressly stated on the product page, Wood Work Therapy does not guarantee that a digital product will be compatible with every computer, operating system, software version, machine, controller, laser, 3D printer, material, firmware version, or individual workflow.

Customers are responsible for reviewing stated requirements and compatibility before purchase.

A customer’s inability to use a digital product because of incompatible equipment, software, settings, operating systems, third-party applications, or insufficient technical knowledge does not create a refund right unless applicable law requires otherwise.

If the original purchased file is corrupted or the authorized download supplied through the customer’s account cannot be successfully retrieved, Wood Work Therapy may provide a replacement copy of the originally purchased file or restore access to the download.

Providing a replacement download does not constitute a refund, warranty, product upgrade, or entitlement to a different product.

Physical Templates, Jigs & Alignment Tools

Sales of physical templates, jigs, alignment tools, fixtures, and similar fabricated products are final and non-refundable.

If an item arrives materially damaged during shipping, Wood Work Therapy may provide a replacement after reviewing the required photographs and documentation.

Approved damage claims are normally resolved through replacement rather than a monetary refund.

Minor manufacturing or material variation that does not prevent normal use is not considered product damage.

In particular, warping, bowing, or deviation from flatness of less than 2 mm, by itself, does not qualify for a refund or replacement, provided the product remains materially suitable for its stated purpose.

Normal appearance differences caused by manufacturing, printing, filament, finishing, temperature, storage, or material behavior are also not considered defects unless they materially interfere with the intended function of the product.

Physical Wood Products

Wood is a natural material. Grain, color, knots, mineral streaks, figure, texture, density, small natural imperfections, and other characteristics vary from piece to piece. These natural differences are not considered defects.

Handcrafted products may also contain reasonable variations resulting from hand finishing, sanding, staining, sealing, engraving, cutting, carving, assembly, or other shop processes.

Small Wood Products

If the finish of a small wood product is damaged during shipping, Wood Work Therapy may authorize the product to be returned for inspection and refinishing.

A refund is not the normal remedy for shipping-related finish damage. Where appropriate, we may refinish, repair, replace, or otherwise remedy the affected product.

Large Wood Products

Customers with damage involving large furniture, oversized wood products, large custom builds, or items that are impractical to return by normal parcel service must contact us before taking any action.

We will review the photographs, circumstances, delivery method, condition of the item, and practical repair options before determining the appropriate next step.

Possible remedies may include repair, refinishing, replacement of an affected component, onsite or local assistance where practical, or another resolution determined appropriate for the circumstances.

Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) Required

Do not send any product back to Wood Work Therapy without first contacting us and receiving a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA).

An RMA must be issued before an item is shipped back. Receiving an email response, submitting a contact form, opening a damage claim, or speaking with us does not by itself authorize a return.

A return is authorized only after Wood Work Therapy expressly issues an RMA and provides return instructions.

The RMA number must be included with the shipment and all return instructions must be followed.

An item returned without an approved RMA does not qualify for repair, replacement, refinishing, refund, store credit, exchange, reimbursement, or other service merely because the package was delivered to Wood Work Therapy.

Wood Work Therapy may refuse delivery of unauthorized return shipments.

If an unauthorized return is nevertheless accepted or delivered, we may contact the sender and provide instructions for reclaiming the item at the sender’s expense.

Unauthorized items that remain unclaimed after reasonable notice and any holding period required by applicable law may be discarded, recycled, repurposed, donated, resold, or otherwise disposed of to the extent permitted by law.

No refund or remedy arises solely because an unauthorized item was shipped to or received by Wood Work Therapy.

Sending an unauthorized return does not automatically transfer ownership of the item to Wood Work Therapy. Any disposition of unclaimed property will occur only to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Project Deposits & Custom Work

Custom projects may require an advance deposit before design, material purchasing, fabrication, or other work begins.

Unless otherwise stated in the written quote, invoice, or project agreement, custom projects may require approximately 50% upfront before work begins.

The deposit allows materials to be purchased and production time to be reserved.

Once materials have been ordered, design work has begun, or fabrication has started, deposits may become non-refundable to the extent permitted by law because costs have already been incurred specifically for the customer’s project.

Any project-specific quote, invoice, design approval, or written agreement may contain additional terms that apply to that particular project.

Final Payment

  • Shipped custom items: The remaining balance must be paid before the finished product is released for shipment.
  • Large or specially delivered projects: Final payment may be required before delivery arrangements, vehicle rental, freight service, or other transportation is scheduled.
  • Other custom arrangements: Payment terms stated on the customer’s written quote or invoice will control.

Estimated Project Time Frames

Project schedules vary according to material availability, current workload, design complexity, finishing requirements, curing time, customer approvals, and other project requirements.

Typical estimates may include:

  • Custom cutting boards and charcuterie boards may sometimes be completed in less than a week, depending on the current production queue and finish requirements.
  • Simple signs, décor, candle holders, and comparable small projects may take approximately one to two weeks.
  • More complex small projects, including detailed boxes or multi-part designs, may take approximately one to several weeks depending on complexity.
  • Large furniture and highly customized builds may take from several weeks to two months or longer depending on material availability, joinery, finishing requirements, design changes, and production workload.
  • Refinishing and restoration projects may require several weeks or, for complex restorations, several months.

These are estimates rather than guaranteed completion dates unless a specific completion date is expressly included in a written project agreement.

Finish Curing & Shipping

Finished wood products cannot always be shipped immediately after the final finish is applied.

Shipping an item before the finish has adequately cured can permanently damage the surface.

Many finishes may require approximately seven days of curing before safe packaging and shipment. Specialty finishes, deep-gloss finishes, multi-coat finishes, polishing systems, or other finishing processes may require substantially longer.

Certain food-contact finishes may have different curing requirements.

Wood Work Therapy may delay shipment when reasonably necessary to avoid damaging an unfinished or insufficiently cured product.

Restoration & Refinishing Services

Restoration is an interpretive woodworking process intended to preserve or recreate the appearance, function, or character of an older item as reasonably as possible.

Customers considering restoration services should review this section carefully before commissioning work.

Historical Information

Wood Work Therapy is not an antique appraisal firm, museum conservator, historian, or authentication service.

Any photographs, manufacturer information, family history, approximate construction date, known materials, prior repairs, or other historical information supplied by the customer can help us make better restoration decisions.

Original Materials May Be Unavailable

Some historic woods, hardware, finishes, decorative materials, and manufacturing techniques may no longer be commercially available, may be environmentally restricted, or may be regulated by federal or international law.

Where original materials cannot legally or reasonably be obtained, appropriate modern, reclaimed, salvaged, or visually similar alternatives may be recommended.

Restricted wildlife products, ivory, endangered species materials, and other regulated materials will be handled only where legally permitted.

Restoration Is Not Exact Reproduction

All restoration work involves professional judgment and approximation.

Replacement components, color matching, grain matching, finish sheen, hardware, decorative details, and other reconstructed elements may vary from the original.

Exact historical duplication cannot be guaranteed.

Hidden Damage & Additional Work

Older furniture and wood products may contain hidden damage that cannot reasonably be identified before disassembly, finish removal, cleaning, or structural inspection.

Examples may include hidden rot, insect damage, failed glue joints, concealed fasteners, cracks, previous repairs, missing components, water damage, or deterioration beneath an existing finish.

If significant additional work becomes necessary, we will attempt to contact the customer before performing work that materially changes the quoted scope or price.

Effect on Antique or Resale Value

Restoration, refinishing, repair, replacement of components, or alteration of an antique may increase, decrease, or otherwise affect its historical, collectible, or resale value.

Wood Work Therapy does not provide valuations and does not guarantee that restoration will increase an item’s value.

Customers restoring an item primarily for resale, historical preservation, or investment purposes should consult a qualified antique appraiser or conservator before authorizing restoration work.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Wood Work Therapy is not responsible for a loss of collectible, historical, sentimental, or resale value resulting solely from properly authorized restoration work performed within the agreed project scope.

Wood & Material Availability

Wood species, colors, dimensions, grades, hardware, finishes, filament, sheet goods, specialty products, and other materials are subject to availability.

Availability may be affected by seasonal supply, drought, wildfire, transportation conditions, import restrictions, environmental regulations, endangered-species rules, manufacturer changes, discontinued products, or other supply-chain conditions.

When the originally requested material becomes unavailable, Wood Work Therapy may offer an alternative for customer approval before proceeding when the substitution would materially affect the product.

Warranties & Product Representations

Except for an express written promise specifically provided with a product or project, products and services are provided to the fullest extent permitted by law without additional voluntary warranties.

Descriptions, photographs, dimensions, specifications, and compatibility information are provided in good faith and are intended to accurately describe the product being offered.

Nothing in this policy disclaims or limits an implied warranty, statutory warranty, consumer remedy, or other legal protection that applicable law does not permit us to waive.

Rights Required by Law

Nothing in this policy is intended to waive, exclude, reduce, or restrict a consumer right, warranty, refund right, cancellation right, statutory remedy, or other protection that cannot legally be waived.

Where applicable federal, state, or local law requires a refund, repair, replacement, cancellation, warranty remedy, shipping-delay remedy, disclosure, or other protection that conflicts with a general provision of this policy, Wood Work Therapy will provide the remedy required by applicable law.

Any statement such as “all sales final,” “no refunds,” “as-is,” any reporting deadline, RMA requirement, warranty limitation, or limitation of remedy applies only to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.

State-Specific Consumer Policy Notices

The following notices supplement the general policy above.

For physical products, these destination-specific provisions apply when required by law to orders delivered to an address within the listed state. If applicable law uses a different jurisdictional test, that law controls.

For digital products, applicable consumer law may depend on the purchaser’s residence, billing location, transaction location, or other legally relevant jurisdiction because no physical delivery address is necessarily involved.

California

For transactions subject to California law, Wood Work Therapy will provide any disclosures required for restrictive refund, final-sale, as-is, or no-return policies. Custom-made and qualifying final-sale merchandise will be treated in accordance with California law.

Any nonwaivable California consumer remedies remain unaffected by this policy.

Connecticut

For transactions subject to Connecticut law, this return and refund policy is intended to serve as conspicuous notice of Wood Work Therapy’s applicable policy before purchase.

Custom-ordered, custom-made, used, as-is, and final-sale merchandise will be treated according to applicable Connecticut law.

If Connecticut law requires a remedy because an applicable return policy was not properly disclosed, Wood Work Therapy will honor that legally required remedy.

Florida

For transactions subject to Florida law, Wood Work Therapy’s no-refund and limited-remedy policy is intended to be disclosed before purchase.

Custom-made and custom-altered merchandise will be treated in accordance with applicable Florida law.

Any refund or exchange right created by a failure to make a disclosure required by Florida law will be honored where legally applicable.

Maryland

For online transactions subject to Maryland law, Wood Work Therapy will make its return, refund, and exchange terms available to the customer before the transaction is completed, as required by applicable law.

Massachusetts

For consumer goods subject to Massachusetts law, nothing in this policy excludes or limits implied warranties or other consumer remedies that Massachusetts law does not permit a seller to waive.

If merchandise is legally defective or breaches an applicable nonwaivable warranty, Wood Work Therapy will provide the remedy required by Massachusetts law, which may include repair, replacement, refund, or another legally required remedy.

The general “all sales final,” “as-is,” “no refund,” and limitation-of-remedy provisions are subject to these Massachusetts rights.

Minnesota

For transactions subject to Minnesota law, Wood Work Therapy will conspicuously disclose its refund policy as required by applicable law.

Custom-order and special-order merchandise will be treated in accordance with the applicable Minnesota statutory provisions.

New Jersey

For transactions subject to New Jersey law, restrictive return and refund terms will be disclosed before purchase to the extent required by applicable consumer-protection law.

New York

For transactions subject to New York law, Wood Work Therapy’s return and refund policy will be displayed or made accessible before the customer is asked to provide billing information, as required by applicable law.

If a legally required disclosure is not properly made and New York law provides the customer with an additional refund or credit remedy as a result, Wood Work Therapy will honor the remedy required by law.

Ohio

For transactions subject to Ohio law, Wood Work Therapy will clearly disclose its return and refund terms as required by applicable consumer-protection law.

Rhode Island

For transactions subject to Rhode Island law, customers will be informed before purchase when merchandise is final sale or nonreturnable.

Custom-made, custom-finished, as-is, and other qualifying merchandise will be treated according to applicable Rhode Island law.

Virginia

For transactions subject to Virginia law, conditions, charges, fees, limitations, and other material terms relating to refunds, exchanges, and credits will be disclosed as required by applicable law.

Policy Changes

Wood Work Therapy may update these policies from time to time to reflect changes in our products, services, shipping methods, business practices, payment systems, or applicable law.

The policy in effect at the time of an order generally governs that transaction, except where a later change is required by law or provides the customer with additional rights.

Questions or Claims

Questions regarding an order, shipping damage, product problem, digital download, authorized return, repair, refinishing request, or other customer-service matter should be submitted through our website contact method.

Please include your order number and a clear description of the issue. Photographs are required for physical damage claims and may be requested for other product concerns.

Do not ship an item to Wood Work Therapy unless an RMA has first been issued.
